About

b. 1986, HK.

Ethan Townsend explores the pull to equilibrium through experimental, process-based work that rely on molten glass, performative activity, and documentation. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2021 with a BFA in Glass.

He has shown work nationally in spaces such as Heller Gallery, NY; Morean Arts Center, FL; and The Arts at Marks Garage, HI. And internationally at the Chelsea Old Town Hall, UK; Tsinghua International Conference, CN, and the Millepiani Gallery, IT. He is a 2020 Windgate-Lamar Fellow and has received the Aaron Rosenstreich Award.

His work grasps at the fleeting state in between. It is the journey to equilibrium that creates satisfaction. It is the embodiment of the scratch that meets the itch. He composes juicy fluid moments which create opulent states of unrest with molten glass.
